Cocktail rings became popular during the Prohibition Era, in the 1920s. Worn as a luxurious rebellion, women would deck themselves out, showing off large sparkling gems while they sipped their drinks at the speakeasy and parties where Prohibition was ignored. The showy gems ebbed in popularity during World War II, but came back with a bang around the middle of the 20th century, when cocktail parties took off once again, and the "Statement Ring", or "Cocktail Ring" has been going strong ever since!
This fully hallmarked English cocktail ring is crafted in 9 karat yellow gold with cool green peridot 'petals' accented with seed pearls and a small selenite cabochon at the center. Selenite is a translucent, pearly white form of the mineral gypsum. A wonderful piece for those who love to flash a little bling while enjoying a favorite beverage!
