Vintage 14K, Diamond & Sapphire Cocktail Ring
Cocktail rings became popular during the Prohibition Era, in the 1920s. Worn as a luxurious rebellion, women would deck themselves out, showing off large sparkling gems while they sipped their drinks at the speakeasy and parties where Prohibition was ignored. The showy gems ebbed in popularity during World War II, but came back with a bang around the middle of the 20th century, when cocktail parties took off once again, and the "Statement Ring", or "Cocktail Ring" has been going strong ever since!
This Art Deco style ring is crafted in 14 karat yellow gold with a large deep blue sapphire at its center. Flanked by baguette cut sapphires and accented with glittering diamonds, it really makes an impact! The perfect piece for anyone who adores the classic combination of sapphires and diamonds as much as we do! We have named it 'The Highball" as it is one tall, cool sip of something!
Recipe for a Highball:
(be sure to use a tall, narrow Collins glass for this one, and large ice cubes)
- 2 ounces whiskey or scotch
- 4 ounces club soda
Cheers!
