Emeralds have long been believed to confer riches, power and eloquence if worn as talismans. They were thought to strengthen ones memory and help aid in longevity, even providing immortality!
Diamonds are associated with purity, perfection and spiritual power. They have been worn for centuries to symbolize commitment and faithfulness, and the ancients felt that wearing them would bring treasures, riches and intellectual knowledge.
Cocktail rings became popular during the Prohibition Era, in the 1920s. Worn as a luxurious rebellion, women would deck themselves out, showing off large sparkling gems while they sipped their drinks at the speakeasy and parties where Prohibition was ignored. The showy gems ebbed in popularity during World War II, but came back with a bang around the middle of the 20th century, when cocktail parties took off once again, and the "Statement Ring", or "Cocktail Ring" has been going strong ever since!
This gorgeous, sweet emerald and diamond ring will be the hit of the next Block Party! A beautiful natural Beryl emerald of nearly one carat resides at the center of the ornately detailed piece. Set in platinum, she has lovely little diamond filled heart motifs surrounding her, giving a contemporary piece an ageless, romantic feel. Sure to be a favorite in your special occasion collection, she has been priced far below her GAL evaluation.
