Cocktail rings became popular during the Prohibition Era, in the 1920s. Worn as a luxurious rebellion, women would deck themselves out,  showing off large sparkling gems while they sipped their drinks at the speakeasy and parties where Prohibition was ignored. The showy gems ebbed in popularity during World War II, but came back with a bang around the middle of the 20th century, when cocktail parties took off once again, and the "Statement Ring", or "Cocktail Ring" has been going strong ever since!

This English cocktail ring is crafted in 9 karat yellow gold with lavish rivulets of crimped gold on the face and shoulders. Eight white opals form a diamond shape, with a lustrous pearl in the center. A gorgeous confection that carries the letter date of 1973, a very fine year indeed!

Gin Sling Cocktail Recipe:

Shake with ice: 50ml gin, 20ml lemon juice, 14ml simple syrup, 2 dashes bitters. Pour into tall glass filled with ice, and pour an equal amount of club soda over. Cheers!
