The era we now know as “Art Deco” received its moniker from the Exposition International des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, which was largely dedicated to the jewelry arts. Emphasis was placed on the association of art and modern industry. The style was also utilized in architecture, where rectangular blocky forms were often arranged in a geometric fashion, then broken up by curved ornamental elements. But always the aim was a monolithic appearance with applied decorative motifs. It was especially successful in apartment buildings and skyscrapers.

This wonderful Art Deco ring is the epitome of the beloved style, with a platinum setting, it reminds us of the decorative motifs in hotel and theatre lobbies of the era. Beautiful diamonds are set into a grill-like ring face, embellished with leafy flourishes, plenty of diamonds, and open gridwork. Deep blue synthetic sapphires punctuate the structural design. The technology that was developed to produce the sapphires was considered to be cutting-edge, and everyone wanted to wear a modern, synthetic stone! This is your chance to wear your own piece of history, when speakeasies, shortened skirts, bobs and votes for women were all part of the modern day trends!
