Opals have long been admired for the sparks in their multi-colored depths. They were considered by all in the ancient world to be the most bewitching and mysterious of gems. The birthstone of October, they can be found in many colors and patterns. In folklore, it is believed that when you see a rainbow and wear an opal, good fortune will follow you.

A mysterious and ethereal gem, it was the subject of the 1829 best selling novel by Sir Walter Scott. 'Anne of Geierstein' connected the opal jewel worn by the character Lady Hermione to sorcery. Because of superstition, the European market for opal tanked. Queen Victoria did her best to dispel the negativity, gifting family and friends with opal jewelry, as well as wearing them herself. Because of her immense popularity, the bad connotations connected to the gem were soon forgotten, and opals enjoyed their just share in adoration once again!

Crafted in 18 karat yellow gold, this breathtaking opal bracelet has seven incredible, fiery graduated cabochon opals, interspersed with eighteen glittering accent diamonds.
