The Western world began its love affair with Egypt with Napoleon I’s expedition in 1798. Along with his armies, he brought along scientists and artists who delved into the ancient Pharaohs and the exotic history of the land. The affinity for the Egyptian aesthetic continued into the next century, when young gentlemen and ladies of the upper classes made the "Grand Tour", sometimes venturing as far as Egypt to fulfill their wanderlust. The incredible hieroglyphics and sculptures inspired commissioned works when the travelers returned.

This fabulous, intricate and opulently over-the-top pendant is a must for any historic jewelry collector! Beautifully and carefully crafted in rich 18 karat yellow gold, it resembles an Egyptian headdress or wig embellished with golden blossoms and accented with a bright pink ruby and seed pearls. She has a locket back with blue fabric and a glass closure, perfect for stashing any little memento you'd like to keep close to your heart.
