The Naval Crown was a gold crown surmounted with small replicas of the prows of ships. It was a Roman military award, given to the first man who boarded an enemy ship during a naval engagement,. The motif of the crown with ship prows was adopted by the British, and then used in decorative pieces such as rings, brooches and cufflinks. Not only beautiful, this jewelry sparked National pride in the Royal British Navy.
This Navette shaped brooch is crafted in 15 karat yellow gold, and has an opaline glass pane decorated with radiating lines, mimicking the reflection of the sky on the sea. A tiny silver crown with the aforesaid prows of ships sits at the center, bedecked in glittering diamonds and three sizable pearls. Forty seed pearls halo this enchanting piece, which also has a bale to be worn as a pendant. A wonderful little slice of history you'll love to wear and keep in your collection!
