Antique 18K & Blown Glass Cross with Chain in Gold Fill

Crosses have been worn as symbols of Christianity for thousands of years, and the nineteenth century saw a surge of popularity in this motif with the Church being held in absolute regard, and piety cherished above all. The custom of wearing a cross pendant has remained in vogue ever since.

This antique cross is made of faux pearls that have been formed using blown glass and nacre beads on an 18 karat yellow gold frame. Added at a later time is a gold filled chain. A delicate, ethereal piece perfect for any antique cross collector!
