Cocktail rings became popular during the Prohibition Era, in the 1920s. Worn as a luxurious rebellion, women would deck themselves out, showing off large sparkling gems while they sipped their drinks at the speakeasy and parties where Prohibition was ignored. The showy gems ebbed in popularity during World War II, but came back with a bang around the middle of the 20th century, when cocktail parties took off once again, and the "Statement Ring", or "Cocktail Ring" has been going strong ever since!
This elaborate, elegant, envy-inducing ring will have everyone raising a glass to you! Crafted in 14 karat yellow gold, and featuring a beautiful cobalt blue natural sapphire at the center, it is surrounded by baguette cut diamonds, set like glittering steps leading to the central stone. A wonderful, celebratory piece you will want to keep wearing even after the party is over!
"Hanky Panky" Cocktail Recipe:
1.5 oz. gin, 1.5 oz. sweet vermouth, 2 dashes Fernet Branca
Stir with ice, pour into chilled glass, add orange twist. Cheers!
