Antique Silver Filigree Cross Pendant
Filigree jewelry has been noted in French fashion from the 1600s through the 1800s, and was a technique used in Art Deco styles as well. However, the origins go much further back than that. Ancient Mesopotamians and Greeks produced thousands of known pieces of filigree, the oldest found dating to approximately 5,000 BC! The art form calls for manipulating and twisting wires of metal to form intricate, lacy patterns, and our cross is a marvelous example of the art form!
Crafted in high quality silver, It has a decidedly floral theme, with a dogwood bloom at the center and petal shapes forming the body of the cross. Boules accent the face, and a generous bale provides plenty of room for your favorite chain or ribbon. We have named her 'Saint Therese', in honor of France's patron saint of flowers. A beautiful piece of immaculate craftspersonship with an irresistible price tag!
