Sold Antique French 18K, Amethyst & Pearl Brooch

 Amethyst stones have been thought for generations to provide protection and were worn by the Ancients as a talisman for luck. The beautiful violet purple hue has also had an allure not to be resisted. Beloved by Victorians as well, it was the first color a widow was allowed to wear after coming out of mourning. 

This large brooch features an enormous amethyst cabochon framed and swag set in rich 18 karat gold. With eight natural split pearls orbiting her, she is one elegant and unique planet!
