Antique French 14K, Pink Tourmaline & Paste Emerald Conversion Ring
Antique paste stones took quite a lot of skill to produce and became very popular, with Marie Antoinette appointing a specific craftsman to make the jewels for her Court. The use of paste remained common in fine jewelry, with Georgians and Victorians preferring to travel with less valuable adornments, as highway robbery was common.
This little darling has been converted from an antique paste pin using the original bar to form its shank. The halo of paste emeralds is original, and the center stone has been replaced with a pink tourmaline. A colorful and fun jewel from the early part of the Victorian Era, you will love to wear it on all of your 'pink' days!
