Antique Late Edwardian 9K, Tourmaline & Spinel Ring

The Edwardian Era brought a new way of thinking, embracing a more casual aesthetic and in jewelry a lighter touch can be detected. Modern women began to cast off the heavy, elaborate jewelry worn in the previous generations. Greater numbers of women were getting out of the house to shop and socialize in public, and convenient garb had become a necessity. Delicate, more understated rings were easier for the modern woman to wear, and much more comfortable under a glove.
This iconic Edwardian ring is a wonderful example of the trend. Crafted in 9 karat yellow gold with pretty scallops on the face and swirls on the shoulders, it is adorned with sparkling red tourmaline and spinel stones. Marvelously lightweight, it lends itself to 'stacking' with other rings. But oh, the hallmarks! A historic jewelry lover's dream, they really take the cake! Marked with the Chester shield and a letter date of 1914, it is a beautiful relic of the late Edwardian Era, and sure to become a favorite in your ensemble!
