Akoya pearls are organic, grown by specific oysters, the Pinctada fucata martensii, the smallest pearl oyster in the world. They are often cultured. The Japanese Akoya pearl was the first pearl type to be cultured in the early 1920s. They are prized for their pure white color and perfectly round shape.
This splendid Akoya pearl ring is crafted in 18 karat yellow gold, with fluted platinum shoulders studded with rose cut diamonds. A pristine, snowy white Akoya pearl rests atop the face, taking center stage. From the latter half of the Art Nouveau period, it elements of Art Deco aesthetics. A lovely treasure, and a must-have for any pearl collector!
