The era we now know as “Art Deco” received its moniker from the Exposition International des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, which was largely dedicated to the jewelry arts. Emphasis was placed on the association of art and modern industry. The style was also utilized in architecture, where rectangular blocky forms were often arranged in a geometric fashion, then broken up by curved ornamental elements. But always the aim was a monolithic appearance with applied decorative motifs. It was especially successful in apartment buildings and skyscrapers.

Converted from an antique stickpin we have married with a replica band, this interesting ring has all the bells and whistles of the era in one small design! Evocative of an Art Deco wall sconce, it also nods to the trend of Egyptomania that consumed the decorative arts at the time. The original element is set in 18 karat white gold, offsetting the icy diamonds and the deep blue sapphires, while the band is in 14 karat. A great ring to wear at any time, put it on and 'Do Deco'!
