Victorians adored turquoise, and loved to implement the stone in jewelry; it became a symbol of good luck, and was often gifted to represent fondness and love.  Traditionally many cultures associate turquoise with warding off of the "evil eye!"

The Forget-Me-Not motif was also highly popular during the era and was included on jewels and trinkets given as tokens of affection as well as on mourning jewelry.

Set in 9 karat yellow gold, this Victorian forget me not ring has an emerald at the center. Natural seed pearls make up the petals of the flower, while Persian turquoise stones are used as accents in the beautifully scrolled shoulders.  The back reveals a small compartment, which probably held a lock of hair at one time. A marvelous old ring just blossoming with the sentimentality of a beloved era.
