During the Grand Period of the Victorian Era (1860-1885), the Cruciform design became used quite frequently in jewelry. Following the general format of the Christian cross, it allowed for jewels and design work to be packed into one small piece, while maintaining reverence for ones faith.

Crafted in rich 18 karat yellow gold, this stylized cruciform ring dates to around 1910. Four oval opal cabochons rest at each side, accented with bright pink rubies and a central diamond. A bright, romantic piece in a popular gem  combination during the 19th and early 20th centuries!
